Americans have an odd notion of what being “thankful” is supposed to mean. Perhaps because we neatly package the idea into one national holiday, we have become shortsighted on the concept. We compartmentalize our thankfulness and forgo daily celebration of our blessings. And we are terrible at anticipating anything we might be thankful for in the future.
That’s probably why we have a tendency to look a gift horse in the mouth. And President Barack Obama is one of the biggest gift horses we have ever been given!
